Bylaws
ARTICLE I: NAME
The name of this organization shall be the Innovations Conference on Infrastructure (ICI), hereafter referred to as the ICI. The ICI was developed to help partially achieve the mission and objectives of SumerUSA, LLC. SumerUSA will focus on ICI, global business ventures and publications.
ARTICLE II: VISION and OBJECTIVES
The ICI focuses on bringing decision makers from government, legislators, scholars and business executives to solve major problems facing businesses and governments through dialogue and candid discussions. The ICI conference is held annually. The ICI objectives are to
- Promote business partnerships
- Align and leverage new alliances
- Address challenges facing the infrastructure industry
ARTICLE III: ORGANIZATION OF ICI BOARDS
Section 1. The ICI is organized into 6 boards including a Board of Directors and five program boards – Sustainability, Materials and Pavements, Transportation and Operations, Diversity and Inclusion and Construction and Trades. The ICI Chair oversees the activity of all 6 boards.
Section 2. The Executive Board duties are to provide input on the ICI conference program and to vote on the ICI award recipients for the following awards:
- The Lincoln Award – Public Official
- The Lincoln Award – Business Leader
- The Deborah Sawyer Diversity Award
Section 3. Each ICI Program Board has a Chairperson, two vice-chairpersons and members. The Sustainability, Materials and Pavements, Transportation and Operations, Diversity and Inclusion and Construction and Trades boards recommend conference program topics and speakers for each of the respective tracks, in addition to general session topics. The recommendations are determined through two annual planning meetings held in advance of the conference. The Diversity and Inclusion board plans frequent meetings throughout the year, organizes and hosts the Speed Dating event, held during the ICI conference. The Speed Dating event allows minority firms the opportunity to network with major Illinois, national and prime consultants/contractors. This event provides a meet and greet for major companies and minority companies. This event has become incredibly popular and continues to grow because it helps minority firms develop new relationships with primes in the building side and transportation side and to have access to large firms.
ARTICLE IV. AWARDS CRITERIA
Section 1: The Lincoln Award for Public Official is presented to the person who best demonstrates leadership, determination, honesty and integrity exhibited by President Abraham Lincoln. This award celebrates those who lean in and step up to create positive change, despite personal challenges.
Section 2: The Lincoln Award for Business Leader honors an individual who seeks to follow in the footsteps of President Abraham Lincoln. This is an exceptional individual who is recognized for extraordinary leadership and original work in developing, employing, and supporting funding of Infrastructure. The recipient has created mechanisms to embrace social equity, economic development, environmental health and remote work.
Section 3: The Deborah Sawyer Diversity Award is awarded to a certified MBE/WBE/DBE (minority, women and disadvantaged business enterprises), veteran business owner, or advocacy organization with a track record of supporting minorities, women, or veterans, or corporate champion committed to making a positive impact on MBE/WBE/DBE entrepreneurs.
ARTICLE V. SPONSORS
Section 1: The quality of the ICI program is maintained and enhanced through the generosity of many organizations and individuals who help Sponsor the ICI. Some opportunities for sponsorship include: VIP Dinner, VIP Breakfast on First Day, VIP Lunch on First Day, VIP Breakfast on Second Day, VIP Minority Student event, General Conference Sponsorship, ICI Padfolios, ICI Brochure, Conference Breakfast on First Day, Conference Breakfast on Second Day, Conference Lunch on First Day, Conference Break on First Day, Conference Afternoon Break on First Day, Conference Morning Break on Second Day, etc.
Section 2: Categories of sponsorship- the following are the categories of sponsorship based on the dollar amount donated to the ICI:
- Emerald $20,000
- Diamond $10,000
- Gold $5,000
- Silver $2,000
- Bronze: $1,000
- Copper: $500
Section 3: Depending on the level of sponsorship, the company names, logo, services of sponsors will be printed in the ICI brochure for those who contributed in time for the printing of the brochure.
ARTICLE VI. EXHIBITORS
Section 1: Exhibitors showcase their products at the ICI conference held annually in April. Typically, exhibitors may begin setting up displays and equipment after 1:00 p.m. on the Monday before the conference at the Par-a-Dice Hotel, the venue of the ICI.
Section 2. Most breaks during the conference will be held in the Exhibit Hall. This provides an excellent opportunity for exhibitors to speak with the many potential buyers who will be attending this conference.
Section 3: Two breakfasts, three breaks, a cocktail reception with open bar, and one lunch are covered through registration. In addition, each exhibitor will receive two invitations to the VIP Dinner on Monday evening.
ARTICLE VII. ATTENDEES
Section 1. Two breakfasts, three breaks, a cocktail reception with open bar, and one lunch are covered through registration.
Section 2: Participation in the ICI entitles attendees to receive professional development hours, continuing professional education and continuing education units equivalent to the session attendance. An award letter will be emailed to each attendee at the conclusion of the conference. As the designated agent for recording this credit, SumerUSA will retain a record of your professional development award for a minimum of seven years.
Article VIII. AMENDMENT
Section 1: These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members of the Board of Directors present and voting at any annual meeting.
